HAPPY DAY!!! It's about time, and I've waited forever for this news, but Final Fantasy IX is FINALLY coming to the PC and Smartphones sometime in 2016. Announced by Square Enix today, it'll be heading to Japan first and there's no information for the West, but we can assume it's coming.

Either way, you can check out the new trailer for Final Fantasy IX:

The trailer shows improved graphics, but there will also be new achievements, auto-save functionality, a "high speed" mode, and other game-boosting features included. I'm assuming it could end up like the Final Fantasy VII PS4 port, where you could fast forward in the game, drop enemy encounters altogether, or gain godlike powers with simple button presses.

According to the trailer, Final Fantasy IX sold more than 5 million copies since its release in 2000 on the PlayStation. It was then re-released for the PlayStation 3, Vita, and PSP as a PS1 classic.

Also included in the announcement today is thus:

"Now you can relive the adventures of Zidane and his crew in the palm of your hands!"

As in we're going to be seeing this game on Android too, unlike a certain Final Fantasy VII.

So now we can all relax, knowing that there is finally a release announced for Final Fantasy IX on the PC. You can check out which smartphone devices are supported right here. Now how about that Final Fantasy VI remake?
