For the longest time, I thought that Final Fantasy IX wasn't going to hit PC until sometime this summer. In fact, yesterday I was planning to write a piece about how it wasn't going to show up till probably the summer despite the announcement that it would happen early April. Turns out, the release date backhanded me and told me, "I'm releasing today!"

Well, damn. So good news! One whole month after the release of Final Fantasy IX for the mobile phone, it finally has reached Steam! Right now, you can purchase the timeless classic at $16.79, but the deal only lasts until April 20. From there, it will be priced at $20.99. For those needing a refresher, here's what the game will feature:
  • Full Steam Trading cards
  • High-def movies and character models
  • New cloud save feature allows players to backup save data to play across other compatible devices
  • Auto save function
  • Seven all-new optional booster features, including high speed mode and no encounter mode, which will allow players to automatically master equipped weapons and gear, as well as maximize character levels, magic stone counts and gil.
So basically it's letting players go all out however they'd like with IX. People have been clamoring that the PC port is worth it, but don't expect next gen graphics, of course! This game is easily worth a pickup. In fact, it was one of my favorite Final Fantasy titles of all time. Definitely would recommend this a million times.
