According to a tweet by the official Final Fantasy Twitter account, the popular RPG spin-off is being remastered for modern consoles in 2019. The tweet is accompanied by a short video trailer, showing off some of the game's new detail. Though little else is known about their plans at this time.
"FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition is more beautiful than ever and coming to #NintendoSwitch and #PlayStation 4 in 2019!"
Originally released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003/2004, Crystal Chronicles handed the player a group of traveling adventurers who searched the world for rare trees that produced fuel for their crystals. These crystals, in turn, would protect settlements from an ongoing miasma.
Crystal Chronicles was one of the few Final Fantasy titled not developed or published by Square Enix. Instead, it was developed by The Game Designers Studio and published by Nintendo. Though this factoid will chance with the Remastered Edition, in which Square Enix will be handling publishing.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is releasing on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 some time in 2019.
