If you're a fan of high quality first person shooters, I have some good and bad news for you. I'll start with the good news first- you know that rumored Far Cry game that takes place in the Himalayan mountains? It turns out the rumors are true, and Far Cry 4 is scheduled for release on November 18th. The game takes place in a fictional area of the Himalayas called Kyrat, and this time you're fighting a guy who is claiming to be the king of the mountain... literally. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot also confirmed Assassin's Creed Unity for this year- which was leaked, then officially revealed back in March. Unlike Unity however, Far Cry 4 is also coming to 360 and PS3 as well as PS4, XBone, and PC.

In "also great news" Halo 5 now has the official name Halo 5: Guardians and a release date... the bad news is that date is fall 2015. 343 Industries promises the a 60fps experience, dedicated servers, and a scale larger than anything we've previously seen in a Halo title. No more details were given, except that the Spielberg driven Halo TV series will be released in conjunction with the game. There was a cryptic promise about a 2014 Halo release they are calling a giant leap, which is likely referring to a Halo 2 Anniversary Edition. It's also a pretty calculated move to not release Halo 5 Guardians in direct competition with Bungie's upcoming Destiny.

So it looks like if you want to shoot a Himalayan elephant with a rocket launcher, you'll be getting your wish this year- but if you want to know who the mysterious blue visor spartan is... you're in for a pretty long wait. I'm personally excited by the prospect of a Far Cry 4 update to the brilliant Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. Dean Evans posted this amazing concept art for Blood Dragon 3: Vietnam War 2 on April Fool's Day that I'm still holding onto some hope this will be a real game... after all those mountains sure look like the Himalayas to me.

Update: 343 Industries Executive Producer Josh Holmes said on Twitter that the blue-visored Spartan seen in the image below is neither a robot Cortana nor Halo 4's Sarah Palmer. Rather, "He's a NEW character. :)"
