Far Cry: New Dawn Gets a New Story Trailer

A certain someone is back...

Far Cry: New Dawn is coming out shockingly soon. It feels like Ubisoft made a huge deal of Far Cry 5, with live-action trailers, dog toys, miniseries, and more, that we were engrossed in the world of Far Cry 5 well before it was ever released to the public. But New Dawn comes out on the 15 of February – like, three weeks – and we’ve had maybe one trailer so far, which made the game look a lot more like Rage 2 than a proper Far Cry six.

Well, that’s sort of changed, as Ubisoft has since released a second big trailer for their upcoming post-apocalyptic sandbox, and this one just might contain a familiar face or two.

Sh*t just got real. Face off against the ruthless highwaymen and their leaders the Twins as you fight to survive in a dangerous post-apocalyptic frontier. Form unexpected alliances, build a deadly arsenal of makeshift weapons and gear using the remnants of the old world to survive against all new threats.

Yep, Joseph Seed, the villainous leader of the doomsday cult Eden’s Gate, is back, and will be joining you in your fight against the Highwaymen, along with a weird, skull-faced assassin thing? The trailer doesn’t actually show a lot in the two minutes it runs, outside a bunch of people shooting each other, bright colors, and that new giant boar animal companion which might be the only reason to buy the game.

(I really like giant boars).

I’m not going to say this game has grabbed my attention the way Far Cry 5 did, but I do have a semi-professional, semi-informal curiosity about the whole thing. If Joseph Seed is back, does that mean the player character from Far Cry 5 is back as well? How much new content is actually in the game? And can you name and/or customize your giant boar?

All important questions that will hopefully be answered before February 15.
