How long will it last?

It's no surprise that Far Cry 5 would be a big deal. The game was in development long enough, and it's potentially controversial theme was bound to catch eyes. The game launched a few days ago, and with it we get a glimpse at just how popular it was.

According to SteamCharts, the popular Steam statistic site, Far Cry 5 had a peak number of concurrent players at 92,377, with an estimated 279,799 players who own the game. To compare to other Ubisoft titles, For Honor and Assassin's Creed: Origins only reach a concurrent player count of 45,923 and 41,541 respectively.

This is also triple the numbers of Far Cry 3, a game that most series veterans consider their favorite. Far Cry 5 is no doubt a success. Players are responding positively to it as well, with reviews averaging over 80 percent.

The next question is: how long will it last? Story driven games often have less longevity than multiplayer games. But with a co-op feature and many, many, side missions, it might be able to maintain these numbers for a while.
