As they often do, The Sims has announced their next expansion pack. But unlike previous packs, this one stands out both in content and community response. Introducing the Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu game pack.
The expansion introduces a slew of new content to the Sims 4, all based on the space universe from the famous film franchise. Sims can take up an adventure on Batuu, a small planet near the Outer Rim Territories. Join the Resistance or the First Order, meet with droids, and socialize in cantinas. A number of actual characters from the Star Wars films might even appear. When all is said and done, they can bring much of what they discovered home with them.
Now what's this about community response? As it turns out, a majority of those responding to the announcement are pretty unhappy about it. The official video has more than twice as many dislikes as it does likes (so about 66% of people didn't like it) Many of the video comments express a similar feeling. A majority of the comments condemn EA for choosing a brand marketing gimmick over developing any of the commonly requested updates that have left the game feeling lacking (requests like cars, more skin tones, and improvements to the infant stages of a Sim's life).
Regardless of how people feel, EA will likely turn a nice little profit from this regardless. Journey to Batuu releases on PC and consoles on September 8. For more information, visit the official website.
