The community outcry towards EA hasn't dwindled just yet. With the recent controversy surrounding Star Wars Battlefront II, as well as the closing of Visceral Games, EA has been in a fairly negative light as of late. This has now prompted London Resident John Hunt to form a petition asking LucasFilm to revoke the Star Wars license from EA.

The petition had originally aimed for 25,000 backers, though at the time of writing this, they have already achieved 80,000 supporters, with a new goal of 150,000. In the petition, Hunt appeals to the community for the uncaring and money driven the behavior of the major game publisher, believing that their values negatively impact the Star Wars image.

This is not a new mindset by fans. When Star Wars Battlefront I released in 2015, a similar uprising was beginning to grow due to the game's lack of content paired with expensive DLC expansions. People felt they were being sold half a game for full price and a full game for double that.

When negative criticism became rampant, EA promised to make amends with Star Wars Battlefront II. They claimed to focus on all the previous issues of the past game and to be sure to fill it with plenty of content, and free future DLC. While this seemed too good to be true, it's because it was. The loot box system and rate it took to unlock advantageous items that could instead be purchased quickly with real-world cash, Star Wars Battlefront II may go down as one of the most hated games of all time.

No official statements have been issued by EA, LucasFilm, or Disney about the licensing. You can see the petition yourself at the change.org listing.
