Skyrim broke records with its sales, appealing to audiences far and wide. This included the world's oldest YouTube "let's player," Shirley Curry. Now fans of the channel are petitioning to have Curry immortalized in the Elder Scrolls VI.

You may have heard of her before, Curry is an 82-year-old-woman that records and publishes let's plays of various video games on YouTube. Her most common game of choice is Skyrim, where she has over 300 different episodes. She quickly developed the title of most wholesome gamer, with her gentle, grandmotherly nature towards her community, which she calls her "grandkids."

The idea began when Curry had commented on a video about the game's far-off release window.

"I guess that puts the nail in my coffin. When Skyrim 6 comes out I'll be 88! So I probably won't get to play it."

The sentiment saddened her fanbase, as well as the Reddit community. Her fans gathered together to create a Change.org petition, asking Bethesda to immortalize her in the Elder Scrolls VI in some way.

Such an idea is nothing new to Bethesda. In Skyrim, they created Erik the Slayer, an NPC. This character was in reference to Oblivion fan Erik West, who visited the studio before passing away from cancer in 2011. They also made Evan, a random NPC in the Nuka World DLC for Fallout 4, which was a homage to a Reddit post about how the author held fond memories of playing Fallout with his brother Evan before he passed away from diabetes-related illness.

In the meantime, Reddit user phantom-scribbler is organizing the development of a Skyrim mod that would make Curry into a follow. Curry herself has already expressed enthusiasm toward the idea and a modder has been sourced. They've requested the community's help picking out auto samples from her videos to use with the mod.

There's no promise right now that Bethesda will follow up on the idea. But we can hope. For now, you can visit her YouTube channel to see her long-running series.
