We're sure everyone is as excited as we are about the upcoming live action Sonic the Hedgehog movie. No? Oh, ok. Here's something to dread then. Early footage of the film was revealed recently and people are already talking.

The early footage premiered at Cinemacon 2019, one of the largest movie conventions of the year. Fellow journalistic outlet IGN shared a summary of what they saw, in a well-edited video on Twitter.

Spoilers, I guess?

Reportedly, the film opens with a local police officer (played by John Marsden) seeing Sonic himself running down the highway at immense speeds while Coolie's Gansta's Paradise plays in the background. Sonic explains to the cop that aliens have come to destroy the earth and he's there to help.

The next scene features Sonic in a duffel bag as the policeman and his wife have to smuggle him into an office building. The scene features some difficulties as Sonic will not stop moving around and making jokes while hiding.

This footage ended with a shot of Dr. Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey, appearing on the scene. He's described as "Jim Carrey but with a large handlebar mustache."

After a word from Carrey himself, they play a second trailer. It shows Robotnik's interaction with the movie, where he is called in to help in the Alien threat. After some scenes of Robotnik going through various character interactions, it concludes with the scientist in a post-apocalyptic setting, now featuring a bald head.

The film appears to be full of wisecracks and witty quips from the in-human hero. So far, fan reception has ranged from "This is so dumb, I hate it" to "This is so dumb, I love it."

Sonic the Hedgehog is marked for theaters this November. Tune in then to see our thoughts on the movie. We're sure we will have many, many thoughts.
