The Break it Early Test Application, or B.E.T.A., will be a pre-launch event where customers who pre-ordered the game will be able to play a beta version of the game. This is ideally to test the game's limits and provide feedback for the game before it goes live.
One of the new FAQ questions address previously unknown information: what will the beta contain?
"Q: IS THE B.E.T.A. GOING TO BE THE FULL GAME AND WILL MY PROGRESS CARRY OVER TO LAUNCH?
A: Our current plan for the B.E.T.A. is it will be the full game and all your progress is saved for launch. We hope you join us!"
This has reinforced the idea that the BETA program is less about improvements and more of a pre-order bonus. The BETA was previously confirmed to be taking place in October, only a month before the game's official release. This had sparked the suspicion that the program's conception was made from a marketing perspective more than a technical one.
Depending on the state of the game in the BETA compared to launch, I may start a new character anyway. Make all of my uninformed mistakes the first time around so that I know better next time.
Fallout 76 releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 14.
