Fallout 76 has been out for a few weeks now, and Bethesda Game Studios has been hard at work with updates and improvements. And now they've revealed their plans for a new open-PVP game mode.
After each update, the studio posts what they call "Inside the Vault," a summary of their plans for the game going forward. In the most recent post, they address some existing bugs and issues they plan on fixing, as well as their plans for a new game mode for PVP focused players.
They start things off by announcing their next update, planned for mid-January, where they will fix a number of issues, including the reload animation for the Lever Action Rifle, perk card bugs, and the duplicating robot glitch on the Whitespring resort grounds.
Bethesda also wants to create better communication with the community. Alongside the regular patch notes, they will also be expanding on why exactly those changes were made via developer briefs. The team was criticized in the past for not disclosing ALL changes in patch notes before. This may be an effort to regain trust on that front.
The final bit of information they share is with a new PVP mode. In the base game, players deal reduced damage to each other until the other person shoots back, initializing a duel. In this mode, all players can deal full damage to each other, regardless of circumstances. Still in production, they estimate a release "sometime in the first quarter of the year."
Finding hostile players is already a rarity in game. This mode will most likely attract them away from the more passive participants. All in all, it sounds like a good idea.
They conclude the message with a suggestion to take festive holiday snapshots using Fallout 76's in-game photo mode. And to share it on social media with the #Holiday76 tag. Here's to seeing some Santa Deathclaws.
