Folks, chill. I work with a lot of devs and games for whom this is important going forward. Fallout 76 does not support crossplay, for a number of reasons. I have no idea if it ever will. But I assure you it is not on our radar right now as we focus on B.E.T.A. and Launch.
This news about cross-play also extends to the upcoming card game The Elder Scroll: Legends, although this quote is considerably older.
"We can't be talking about one version of Legends, where you take your progress with you, and another version where you stay within that ecosystem or its walled off from everything else. That is counter to what the game has been about."
Of course, this is all very unsurprising. It’s no accident that the first PS4 cross-play game would be Fortnite: it was probably only because Epic (who’s become a giant behemoth of the games industry) pushed hard against Sony that they decided to change their minds, and it’s all very likely they’ll try to keep “cross play” as limited as humanly possible. So Minecraft, maybe, Rocket League, maybe, but Monster Hunter: World? Don’t hold your breath.
That said, Pete Hines did clarify later on that it wouldn’t be impossible to add cross-play later, just that it’s basically impossible now, given the team’s focus on B.E.T.A and all.
So relax friends.
