During Fallout 76's E3 debut, many rumors were confirmed while some new concerns surfaced. The fear of a completely online PvP Fallout experience is something that a lot of hardcore Fallout fans were dreading and after E3 some might be fearing the worst. Playing a game like Fallout and enjoying your time exploring the wastelands alone or with your AI companion is what the game is known for and for it to be tainted by the constant threat of intruding wastelanders could be a major flaw.
To maximize the multiplayer experience in 76, the devs are working hard on making sure item loss isn't an issue and that the game doesn't seem like a free-for-all when entering into your world. The hard facts still haven't been presented to us, but the risk reward of going against a player seems to favor not attacking another player at all. Even if you do come out victorious, you can't loot their body of their valuable items. With only a dozen or so players in the world you inhabit, you likely won't run into too many of them consistently. Even if you did, would you really want to be known as that guy who is always going for the kill? I guess that is for you to decide.
