Fallout 4's First Game-Breaking Bug Discovered

So, how are you liking Fallout 4? Now that you’ve had a weekend to really gluttonize over it, do you have all the hype out of your system? Or is it so good you still find yourself wanting to return to post-apocalypse Boston and continue your adventures? Well, far be it from me to get in your way, but before you return to your journey, at least heed this old soul’s warning: avoid the Monsignor Plaza settlement quests.

Now, Bethesda games are no stranger to game-crashing bugs, they exist in just about every one in some form or another: inevitable, when you make a game so big and open and expansive that there are parts the QA team miss. Fallout 4, for all the hype, is no exception, and the first of what will likely be many game-breaking bugs have been discovered and discussed over Steam and the forums.

Apparently, this bug--that will make games crash when you try to enter the area between C.I.T Ruins and Monsignor Plaza, as well as Monsignor Plaza itself--an important story hub, according to reports. If you even step within the zone the game, apparently, crashes--sometimes directly to the desktop without any warning or error message. Apparently it happens to every version of the game, on PC and console, so whatever it is must be in the code.

So, that’s your warning--avoid that zone for now. I’m sure Bethesda will fix it soon (although they are historically slow at bugfixes, sadly) but maybe the fact it’s super-important to the story will light a fire under their butts for this one.
