Fallout 4 mods have hit the Xbox One, and while it's been far from perfect, I think people can by-and-large agree that the game is better when people are able to use it as an empty canvas, using mods as their brushes. However, while PC and Xbox one players (to a limited but still functional) extent can enjoy lovely mods, Fallout 4 players on the ol' PS4 have been left out in the cold. Bethesda has sworn that they'll be adding import functions to Sony's landmark system, but, as it turns out, getting mods on the famously stiff PlayStation system has introduced ... problems for the Bethesda team.
You see, they're getting close to launching the closed beta for the PS4 creation kit, and they've detailed some issues that they've run into that they hope to fix. Specifically: while the Xbox One's mod size limit was fairly restricting, the PS4 is even more so, capping off mod sizes at 900 MB. Furthermore, if a mod uses PC textures, it causes memory and performance issues. And, finally, the mods can't use sound, because the format is too different.
Now, Bethesda is working with Sony to fix all these issues, but there's no word on when that will happen, so, in the mean time, hold on tight: it's not as if Bethesda has a history of releasing buggy products!
