Well, get ready for even wilder mods than ever before, because Bethesda has finally announced a release date for these mod tools: April. Sometime in April. In an interview with Game Informer, Todd Howard had this to say:
"[Mod Support] will go up at that time on PC. In April. It'll probably be a good month before it hits Xbox One, and another month for PlayStation 4."
So, yes, these mod tools will also be available for console players. How, exactly, these mods will be loaded onto the console versions of the game is still a mystery right now, but I suspect you’ll need a good computer and a USB stick or three. Still, it could be just the thing for console gamers, given that the tools make it easy enough to mod for the longstanding mod-adverse console systems. For a long time now, mods have been such an important part of Bethesda games that buying them for consoles was always kind of a trap, so… this will certainly be momentous for those able to take advantage.
As for PC gamers? Well, they never needed mod tools to begin with, so, this is just a bit of good news to enjoy before they’re called to a new settlement in need of help. Godspeed, modders.
