Fallout 4 is on its way, and if you are a savvy gaming customer, you’re probably going to get it on the PC, since that’s really the only system you’re supposed to buy Bethesda games on. Sure, they release versions on consoles as a formality, just to check off some boxes on their spreadsheets and to trick the casuals, but if you want to actually play and enjoy a Bethesda game, PC is the way to go.
Problem is, they’re pretty hard on the ol’ CPU. Well, now that we’re a month away from the release of the next big open-world post-apocalyptic bottlecap simulator, Bethesda has officially released the minimum and recommended specs for their game--just in case you need to upgrade, rebuild, or cry over the inadequacies of your machine.
Minimum
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent
Recommended
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz/AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent
So a pretty mid-range machine can run it, but obviously recommended will require a bit more oomph. Still, it’s good to know for all those people who might need an excuse to get that new Graphics Card or whatever.
