They just couldn't close it out.

The Fable series is extremely well known and originated on the first Xbox console. The first installment to the series was released all the way back in October of 2004, nearly thirteen years ago. It received overwhelmingly positive reviews and was considered one of the greatest RPG games ever created. Personally, I still believe it is.

I had logged an incredible amount of time into the original Fable game and my love for the series made me want to buy Fable II and Fable III. I bought both games on release day and even bought the largest bundle package for Fable III with a ton of collector merchandise. Unfortunately, Lionhead Studios was not immune to the plague that tends to destroy great games. The first Fable was just too good.

I'm not going to say that Fable II or Fable III were bad games. I enjoyed them quite a bit, but they did leave me a bit disappointed. Not only were fans disappointed, but even Peter Molyneux, the creator of the franchise.

In an interview, he said that the game moved too fast. The world of Albion really captured people in the original Fable and since they did a five hundred year jump between Fable and Fable II, and another five hundred year jump between Fable II and Fable III they really ran out of time. He believed the jump should have been fifty years, in order to keep players in the same encaptivating world that they fell in love with.

They also crippled themselves by making such a large gap between games, because if they had done another five hundred years we would be playing Fable in space. Fable was ultimately the downfall of the company as it closed in 2016. Fable Legends, the free-to-play online game they were working on was cancelled, cost the company seventy-five million dollars, and Lionhead Studios will never make another game.
