At Microsoft's Gamescom press conference today, it was confirmed that the Xbox One exclusive Fable Legends' multiplayer beta will launch on October 16th.

Legends differs greatly from past games in the Fable franchise, as it is multiplayer focused game as opposed to a more open RPG. Four players take on the roles of heroes while a fifth player will act as the villain, throwing up obstacles and commanding enemies from above. Players controlling the heroes won't customize their characters like in Fables past, but will choose between pre-set heroes with designated combat roles.

Alongside the announcement of the game's beta launch date came a trailer showcasing the role of the villain in-game, which you can view below.

While Fable Legends has no announced release window, developer Lionhead intends to give the game a 5-10 year lifespan through the addition of new content periodically after release.
