Fable Finally Returns

That's pretty much everything we know.

While Halo was no doubt the star of the show as far as the Xbox Games Showcase is concerned, other games were also announced during the event. And perhaps the second-biggest name to drop was the return of one of the most beloved – and controversial – Xbox exclusives in recent memory.

We’re talking about a brand-new Fable, boys and girls. The king of “not as good as it was advertised but still pretty good” has returned.

Fable returns with a new beginning for the legendary franchise. Explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places. Developed by Playground Games for Xbox Series X and Windows 10.

The trailer, while tacky, does not tell us much. We can assume that it’s still a long ways off, since it won’t be coming to the Xbox One, but that’s about it.

It’s also worth nothing that the developers behind this game, Playground Games, have historically worked exclusively on realistic racing games. This will be the studios first foray into a different genre, so while we can probably expect they’ll bring some of the famous graphical fidelity of racing games to the series, hopefully they also bring some new ideas as well.

As you might expect, there’s no release date yet.
