Eye Tracking for Deus Ex?

Eye Tracking for Deus Ex?

That's actually pretty fitting.

Every gaming company has been trying to pioneer a different technological innovation. It started as motion and voice controls. Now, most are focused on virtual and augmented reality. Eidos Montreal, however, is looking into something a bit different. They have teamed up with eye tracking developer, Tobii. Yesterday, they revealed that the PC version of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will support eye tracking.

Eye tracking brings a new level of game interactivity. Aiming with our eyes instead of using a mouse or controller is a huge step forward. It can also be used to turn the camera just by looking at the edge of the screen. One of the most exciting aspects, though, is the potential for character interaction. Conversations with NPCs has always felt mechanical and unnatural. Eye tracking can add eye contact mechanics to games, making these interactions feel more comfortable.

The best news is that this is just the start. There's no telling where this technology will take us in the future. I'm excited to find out, though.
