Episodic games seem to be more popular than everthe release method certainly comes with its pros and cons, but that's an article for another day. For today, it's simply best to highlight an indie game that has released under the episodic format, brought to you in part by the Square Enix Collective. The game?

Pankapu, a platformer involving a young dreamkeeper named Pankapu!

Now, in this oneiric platformer, out on Steam September 21, 2016, you must destroy the Nightmares that have invaded the Dreamland, also known as Omnia.

But the tale begins via adorable framing device: Djaha'Rell, a small child, seeks a method to overcome his phobias stemming from nightmares. In an effort to help the young boy, Djaha'Rell's father sits with the child and relays the tale of tiny Pankapu, which the players relive. You see, Pankapu is a small being crafted by Ikteomi, who happens to be the god of dreams. Pankapu's life exists for one purpose: to defeat the hordes of nightmares that infiltrate Omnia. However, during his adventure, he encounters a colorful cast of characters, like the magic spider Chii who acts as a guide throughout Dreamland, breathing life into his own character. Furthermore, he will be offered the opportunity solve the mystery behind the invasion...

As for gameplay, expect to play as three Aegis (otherwise known as classes), which are switchable in real-time. Additionally, you'll be able to infuse your weapons with the souls of Dreams.

Only Episode 1 of Pankapu will be made available on Steam on September 21. At what price, you might wonder? Well, for $4.99.
