This weekend was Comic-Con, and thus the whole nerd world—gaming, comics, movies, etc.—has been awash with new information, new celebrations, new trailers, and new posters to hang on our wall. Unfortunately for us, one of the highlights of this year’s Comic-Con, Legendary Picture’s preview of the 2016 Warcraft movie, was exclusively for people attending in person, leaving press folks like me and Warcraft enthusiasts who live too far away to attend without much… but not without nothing.
First, we learned that the first public trailer for the movie will launch sometime this November, so we have that to look forward too. But more impressive, Legendary decided to give us a little toy to play with while we pass the time.
See, at the Legendary Picture’s Warcraft event, there was a Virtual Reality thing called the Skies of Azeroth—a brief 1-minute experience of riding a gryphon over the Alliance city of Stormwind. While we can’t pop on our Oculus Rifts and try it ourselves, we can watch the whole thing over YouTube in 1440p glory.
With the right plug-ins, or viewed in Chrome, you can click on the arrows in the upper left hand corner and look around while you fly! A pretty neat trick, I gotta say! Probably not as cool as wearing the actual headset, but beggars can’t be choosers.
Regardless, this does a pretty good job of hyping me up for the eventual movie release. For the Alliance!
