Few very games have I ever played that have actually made me listen so intensively, and then after playing, just sit and think. As much as I like shooting and killing things in video games, and boy do I love it, Everything provided a gameplay experience that is totally unique and unlike any other game, I've played, and surprisingly, it's actually one an award at the 2017 Vienna Shorts Festival, aka Festival for Short Film, Animation, and Music Video.
The Award and description of it are as follows:
JURY PRIZE - Animation
"Everything" (IE/US) by David OReilly
Qualifies for the Academy Awards® in the category ANIMATED SHORT FILM
Jury statement: The "Jury Prize - Animation" goes to a film, which beyond being entertaining has a strong poetic and philosophical theme. It serves a highly educational purpose, including an important political statement, that encourages to let our egos dissolve and gain a new perspective on the world. The award goes to "Everything", by David OReilly.
What does this mean? Well, it means that a video game has actually broken through a stigma, and into the world where people appreciate both television, movies and video games for what they are. Pure art. Check out Everything's trailer below:
