EVE Online, the space-faring game where you can transport, mine, or battle with a player base as vast as the galaxy you're in, is on the verge of another extreme battle. A battle that is expected to cost over 1 million dollars.
"Another?" you ask. That's because about four years ago, there was a large scale battle between alliances known as B-R5RB. This fight resulted in $300,000 of assets lost. News of this broke out online. There is a nice infographic at the bottom of this post about the battle, with thanks to Elena Melkan.
Why is this happening again? The leader of the winning side, Mittani, went on to try and sell their community as well as start a Kickstarter for hiring an author to write a book about him. The EVE community did not like this idea, and have been banding together to destroy his remaining empire. This rebellion was funded by an EVE casino owner, who has also funded most of this process. However, plans fell short when the banker was banned from EVE for association with a GS:GO gambling scandal.
Now Mittani is back for revenge, with both sides having ships at the ready and in higher numbers than ever seen before. The Battle of B-R5RB had 75 Titans, the largest and most powerful ship available. This battle expects to have approximately 200 Titans.
The value of these assets are calculated based on the price of materials and crafting.
