Eve Developer Opens Jobs for Planned MMORPG

They have a bad record, but it's gotta turn around sometime!

Last we heard from CCP Games, the folks behind Eve Online and a series of other significantly less successful projects, they had shut down two of their four studios around the world and let go of around 100 employees. Things were looking rather grim for the studio, but it seems the recent departures hasn’t dampened their enthusiasm, as they’ve recently put up some new job postings looking for people from nearly every branch of the games industry to work on a “new and highly ambitious MMORPG”.

There are a number of positions available for prospective applicants, including lead designer, art director, engineer, senior 3D artist, senior animator, senior backend engineer, senior character artist, senior UI artist, and UX designer. While they might not all be for the same project, it’s a fairly safe assumption. They’re also all based in London, so if you’re ever wanted a job overseas, this might be your chance to do it.

“CCP is currently building a team in London to lead development on a new and highly ambitious MMORPG. We are looking to grow a relatively small, tight-knit team, capable of delivering big ideas through experience, smart process, and world-class tools.”

Seems neat, right? But before you start geeking out over the possibilities, I would recommend caution: CCP has a very spotty record with games that aren’t EVE Online, so the chances of you working on something that’s going to keep you steadily employed is slim. Still, if you’re lookin’ for something, it’s better than nothing!
