Video game tournaments have always been big, but they seem to become increasingly larger over the years. The Electronic Sports League (ESL), the world's largest eSports company, has recently announced the prize pool for its upcoming ESL One Dota 2 tournament. The total amount of prize money and the minimum prize pool amount for each event?

Brace yourself.

A total of $1 million, with $250,000 minimum in prize pool money for each event. Last year, ESL One released a prize amount of $150,000 minimum for each event, so it's a pretty big increase in just a year. The event series, which took place in Frankfurt, Germany and Madison Square Garden in NYC last year, will start off in June at Frankfurt before appearing at other iconic stadiums.

2015 may just be the year of the professional gamer, though this year's prize pool is an indicator that that professional gaming has solidified into a full-fledged career. After all, eSports have already exceeded the popularity of the NBA.
