Epistory to Paint a Tale with Your Keyboard September 30

As a writer, I understand the premise all too well.

This may not be an agreeable statement, but typing games are fun, especially when they help improve your typing speed. Personally, I enjoy them because it tests the speed and accuracy of my typing capabilities. Typing of the Dead: Overkill is one great example, despite being a "word-based" port of a shooter. It was fun just taking down zombies with sheer typing "skillz."

But when there is an intricate, gorgeous game is built on typing, that's when curiosity is piqued. Fishing Cactus-developed Epistory, an epic tale following a muse and a giant three-tailed fox companion, is 100% keyboard based. With a tranquil atmosphere and lull-inducing melodies, this particular typing game centers on the loss of inspiration of a writer, who must ask her muse to help her write her latest novel.

The plot alone offers a unique breath in the indie realm, but what connects flesh to breath is the idea that your muse begins on a blank page, which progresses into a livelier, larger world featuring treasure, epic battles, puzzles, and mystery-solving.

Throughout the journey, the story literally unfolds in the writer's mind--again, an awesome feature to contemplate.

Featuring an origami aesthetic, Epistory resembles an action-RPG but with typing elements, hosting upgrades, spells, and dungeon-exploration. Four keyboard languages--English, French, German, and Dvorak--are supported in Epistory, which boasts a dynamic difficulty that evolves based on the player's typing abilities.

Epistory is set for an Early Access release September 30, 2015 for PC, Mac, and Linux, for only $9.99 (9.99 ), though the full release won't be available until early 2016.
