The Epic Games Store has offered some good deals and bigger slices of the sales pie for devs (88 percent, to be exact). But in terms of support, they're falling flat. So much so that people playing Subnautica on the Epic Games Store have taken to asking for help on the Steam forums instead.
Initially reported by Fraser Brown, the community for Subnautica, an open-world ocean survival game, have been searching all over for technical help with the game, everywhere except the Epic Games Store.
Epic stated that there wouldn't be a forum for their library of games. They believed that by omitting the feature, they could reduce toxicity while encouraging using the game's Discord, Twitter and developer forums for help.
Where else do they go than to Steam? A surplus of support posts is appearing on the game's Steam forums asking for help specifically regarding the Epic Games Store version of the game. Some were even responded to by the game's developers themselves.
It's only fair to note that this is a phenomenon with all ports of the game, including the Origin and console versions. Though those are few and far between. The influx of Epic Games posts may have also been due to a recent promotion by the Epic Games Store, where users could play Subnautica for free.
The Epic Games Store has had an effective launch, with an ambitious 2019. But until they can offer what Steam already has, their customers will still go back.
