No dice required!

I admit, I am a nut for tabletop games. I have grown quite fond of role playing, note taking, and dice rolling. I personally ensured that I had the sweetest voice of all the bards on Athas. Basically, give me a character sheet and a handful of dice, and I'm one happy camper. So when I heard that Eon Altar brings the tabletop experience to the realm of video games, I had to check it out.

Think of the money I'll save on printing!

Eon Altar is played on Steam and on smart phones. This works by allowing 4 players to link to a single game by use of the free controller app. This way, each player can see and control their own character by phone, while watching all of the action and interaction on the main display. This has another function, though. Players will also be able to see some hidden secrets and motivations. This adds a new layer to the gameplay through deception. Unfortunately, the game is entirely local. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing, though. Honestly, that's the best way to experience this kind of gameplay. A sense of atmosphere is lost through digital translation. So next time you're inviting friends over for a game night, give Eon Altar a glance.
