Ah, Elder Scrolls Online, we haven't forgotten about you... or have we? Though not Final Fantasy XIV, ESO is its own little gem, having struggled for awhile post-launch, even being forced to relaunch as Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, complete with the buy-to-play model and overhauled gameplay and design. Fortunately, the second time's the charm, as the game has become exponentially popular.

QuakeCon 2015's Elder Scrolls Online presentation is in regards to the DLC Imperial City. In fact, Imperial City is the first "named DLC" pack, which will be released quarterly. Fortunately, if you're an ESO Plus member (a subscription holder), you can receive this DLC pack free of charge, but you can always purchase this a la carte. So here are some important highlights to follow from the presentation:

What's Imperial City?

It's a DLC pack, brimming with new gameplay styles, cool new visuals, that broadens the PvP experience with PvE sprinkled in. Within this pack are two PvE standard dungeons and a PvP open dungeon. Of course, there are new gear and item sets to look forward to. A quick history lesson for those of you who are unaware: Imperial City is the same Imperial City derived from Oblivion. In fact, Oblivion's Imperial City hasn't changed a lot in 700 years. It has been noted that you'll feel like you've been smacked with a brick of nostalgia upon entering.

There are six different districts (market, arboretum, elven gardens, noble, temple, and arena), and there are some differences between the two Imperial Cities. For instance, there will be street fights amongst players and monsters. Speaking of monsters, "big, badass, and evil" creatures will roam the areas. One particular monster looks incredibly big and ugly and it also roams the streets of the Imperial City. What will also be involved are Xivkyn: Molag Bal's elite forces... they're the elite of the elite.

There will be new alternate currency, so look forward to that too.

Dungeons will follow normal dungeon rules. You can avoid PvP as you group up with friends and leap right into a dungeon. You can also enter the sewers from Cyrodiil. Story wise, Molag Bal has a last ditch effort at Planemeld, which requires you to stop before it's too late. You know, typical save-the-Tamriel-stuff.

One of the PvE dungeons is the Imperial City Prison, which is for four players and offers regular and veteran modes. There are other details, but it's best to not spoil them here, as they are related directly to the story. The other PvE dungeon is White-Gold Tower.

In regards to PvP, the new PvP mode is straight up street-brawling. Additionally, the Sewers are PvP-flagged, but it will contain a variety of elevation and types of terrain. There are, of course, monsters that loom about as well...

Referring to new gear, there will be 12 complete dungeon gear sets, two monster masks, six TelVar Stone sets, three crafted sets, and 11 revamped PvP rewards. There will also be new toys, such as the Soul-shriven skin. It's a skin... for your skin. There's also a portal stone, which takes eight seconds to activate and acts as a home point. Prismatic Enchantments are also included, which gives health, magicka, and stamina simultaneously.

Though not related to Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood are the next two DLC packs to look forward to. They will also be adding controller support for the PC version. It will instantly switch to the controller UI once you plug into the controller. There will also be subtitles and alliance members will be able to play with each other.

The testing ground for the Imperial City DLC will go live next week for the PC. Sorry console gamers. The developers will definitely need valuable feedback during testing.

Imperial City will be released on PC/Mac first August 31, followed by a September 15 release for Xbox One and a September 16 release for PlayStation 4. A la carte, it will be priced at 2500 crowns.
