Earth Defense Force, the giant-bug-invasion game series by D3 Publisher, has been working on their fifth iteration, and now we have the details regarding its release in the West.

Earth Defense Force 5 is releasing on North American and European PlayStation 4 systems as a digital download on December 11. While there will not be a physical release for the game, there will be a deluxe edition available.

In Earth Defense Force, gigantic insects have invaded Earth. The player takes the role of a special military team designed to fight them off. This includes ants, spiders, and even building-sized frogs with rifles. D3 Publisher has also stated that EDF5 includes a new humanoid enemy.

The base game will cost the standard full price of $59.99, with the deluxe edition costing $89.99. The deluxe edition will come with all of the game's future DLC, as well as some extra in-game content.
