As it is capable of running applications, games publisher Electronic Arts is looking into designing games for the device.
News of this comes from EA’s Frank Gibeau, who oversees the company’s mobile content. Gibeau told CNET that the company already has two teams working on content for the Apple Watch, both for games and potentially augmenting the experiences of already established games on mobile platforms.
"We have two teams prototyping wearable experiences that are not only standalone, but also some ideas where you can actually use the fitness component in the watch that can unlock capabilities in the game that might be on your iPhone," said Gibeau.
"Or you could do crafting or some other auction trading on your watch that goes back into your tablet game that you might check out later when you get home. So, we're pretty excited about it. We think it's very early days. But for EA, the emergence of another gaming platform is compelling for us."
The Apple Watch is slated to launch in 2015 at a starting price of $349 in North America.
