EA Origin Re-Named to EA Accounts for Some Reason

EA just sent out a series of emails to anyone with an Origin account.  Origin, of course, is EA’s online digital service, which has slowly and steadily grown in popularity and goodwill as people have realized there are legitimately good items on sale and a lot of value on offer—particularly on those joyful occasions when they decide to give out something for free.  Well, EA can’t go a few weeks without making a mistake, which brings us to the email.

"In the coming weeks your Origin Account will be renamed to an EA Account to better represent all of EA's games and services. Your account identity, preferences, and order history will remain unchanged.   You will continue to use this account and the same login credentials to access all EA games, web sites, and services, including Origin.  Your Origin Account credentials are now your EA credentials,"

Yep, they’re changing the name.  And… that’s pretty much it.  The services remain the same, the games remain the same… literally the only thing different is what they call it.  Which… well, I’m sure there’s a perfectly good reason why they decided to do it, but the timing is a bit odd.  Origin isn’t hated, it doesn’t really need to be rebranded.  Maybe they’re changing it to make it more obvious what it’s for?  Or maybe it’s not really an ‘origin’ now that it’s been around for a few years.  Either way… it is what it is, now.
