May 4th is coming. Which, for needlessly grouchy internet folk like myself, is the only day more annoying than April 20th to get on Reddit. But if you’re not joyless and dead inside, then that date is the fan-dubbed "Star Wars Day," and boy, you can bet Disney has no plans to acknowledge that’s ever a thing. But for the rest of the entertainment industry that surrounds it, specifically for EA, it’s still a kind of big day, and to celebrate, all three of their big Star Wars games are celebrating in the lamest way possible.

For Star Wars Battlefront, EA is turning the game free-to-play for an four-hour period on May 4th, allowing people to download it and play the entire game (sans premium content) for the entire period… which, according to reviews, is just about as long as you’ll need to experience the full game. But for everyone else, EA is rolling out a new Hutt contract, and you’ll even get 4,444 free credits just for logging in.

If you still play Star Wars: The Old Republic, you’ll get some treats as well. Specifically, you’ll get a new droid mini-pet, Double XP, and much like Star Wars Battlefront, you can also play the first chapter of the game’s expansion for free.

And for those Star Wars: Heroes of the Galaxy fans, Crystal Bundles will go on sale, and you’ll get double drop rates. Which would be cool, if I knew what either of those things were.

Regardless! Even if it’s not breathtaking, as promotions go, it’s still cool that it’s being acknowledged, and hey: goodies are goodies. Never turn your nose up at goodies, even if they are being offered by EA from the back of an unmarked white van.

Sorry. X-wing. An unmarked, white X-wing. Have to stay thematic.
