EA Celebrates Battlefront Release by Selling Up the Season Pass

Who wants to spend an extra 50 on a 60 dollar game?

Star Wars: Battlefront comes out today! Yay! Now all those classic memories and moments you created in the beta can be experienced again, all over the universe, in this masterful (probably) remake of 2004’s epic third-person shooter. Lots of reason to be hype! And of course, to celebrate the launch of Star Wars Battlefront, EA has decided to grace us with more information about the SEASON PASS!

Because of course they did. That’s kind of how EA works--what better way to celebrate success than to demand more money, eh?

Anyway. The Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass is currently available for pre-order for 50 bucks, which you’ll note is about as expensive as the base game. Purchasing the Season Pass will get you free access to “Four epic expansions” that will give you 20+ new bits of tech, 16 new maps (so four maps per expansion) an exclusive “Shoot first” emote, four new heroes and villains to play, four new game modes, and the option to experience these expansion packs two weeks earlier than everyone else.

So, yeah. The first expansion will be available in early 2016. And I gotta say, this, combined with the fact the game is suspiciously small, makes me think EA is trying to cash a little too hard on the goodwill created by the public beta.  Also, I'm really suspicious of the fact the season pass makes a point of saying the first four expansions, rather than, say, 'all the expansions'... just how many are EA planning to make?

Still--I haven’t seen the final game, Since I’m writing this at one in the morning, so maybe there’ll be enough content in the final game to allow this. Crossing my fingers for you, EA--gosh darn it, after all this I still want to like you.
