If you havent heard of Crossfire, thats probably because youre not from Asia: the game is enormously popular outside the United States, and despite having very little hype behind it stateside, has actually built up over 650 million players on PC all around the world. Considering that, its not terribly surprising that the latest installment to the series, Crossfire X, would show up on the Xbox One but it is kind of surprising that it got its own E3 slot, considering the US-focus of the event. Maybe a sign that Smilegate, the developer, is finally serious about getting the series some real traction in the states.
Theres no actual gameplay available yet, but its safe to assume itll play much like the other Crossfire games, which are Free-to-Play FPS games where you play as part of rival mercenary units, Black List and Global Risk. Each match has a list of objectives that youll need to either complete or prevent with your 8-man team. Pretty standard FPS fare, although the game does have a lot of interesting different game styles, like Sheep Mode, Zombie Mode, Big Head mode, and more. I dont see why those wouldnt make the jump to this upcoming Xbox version.
Other than that, theres not a whole lot to report. But Id bet good money theyll find a way to slip a battle royale mode in there, too.
