According to Michael D. Gallagher, president and CEO of ESA regarding this year's E3:
"More than any other E3, this year was about the gamer. E3 demonstrated both the remarkable transformation of entertainment taking place on all video game platforms--virtual reality, augmented reality, hardware, mobile and handheld--and awesome games.
As a driving force for technological and entertainment trends across the globe, the video game industry clearly demonstrated how it is revolutionizing the way people consume, engage and interact with media. Congratulations to our incredibly creative exhibitors, members, partners, and the millions of video game consumers who celebrated a spectacular E3 event."
This year, a whopping 52,200 gaming enthusiasts attended the show from 109 countries. This is a considerable jump from last year, which boasted 48,900 attendees from 100 countries.
Next year, we can already expect a few announcements--A possible release date on Kingdom Hearts III, more information on Final Fantasy VII and Nier 2, the announcement and details of the Nintendo NX, the full reveal of Zelda Wii U, and the unveiling of plenty of virtual reality titles and headsets. For now, we'll just have to twiddle our thumbs and wait patiently.
