That said, it was recently revealed to the general public that the price of the DLC would actually be going up to 20, and eventually 30 dollars--why? According to Techland:
“Over the past weeks Dying Light: The Following has almost reached its final stage: main quests, side quests, new skills, and driving challenges are ready. We now are moving into the polishing period. Looking at it, it’s clear how big the expansion pack has grown – it could be a stand-alone title, but since it would mean a launch delay, we decided against it.”
Good enough reasoning, I would say. But, what’s most impressive here isn’t the size of the DLC, or even the boost in price--what’s impressive here is how tastefully Techland is doing it. See, not only giving Season Pass holders the full thing regardless of the price, they’re giving us ample warning to buy the new DLC for 20 bucks before it jumps up to 30 on July 8th. While raising prices isn’t fun, at the very least they’re making it easy to get the DLC cheap before it’s basically buying a full game over steam.
So, at the very least, it’s laudable of them to be so sensible about it. Good job Techland!
