The zombie outbreak has been put on hold, folks. Dying Light 2, the anticipated zombie game, has been delayed for an indefinite amount of time.

Announced on the Dying Light Twitter account, Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka explains that they will be unable to hit their initial release window of "Spring 2020" and will be delaying the game for now.

"It was a busy year for us as we continued working on our biggest project to date. we know you are awaiting the game eagerly, and we want to deliver exactly what we promised.

We were initially aiming for a Spring 2020 release with Dying Light 2, but unfortunately we need more development time to fulfill our vision. We will have more detailed to share in the coming months, and will get back to you as soon as we have more information. We apologize for the is unwelcome news. Our priority is to deliver an experience that lives up to our own high standards and the expectations of you, our fans.

Please stay tuned and thank you to our fans around the world for your continued support, patience, and understanding."

The announcement gives no alternate release date or time frame, so we have no idea how much longer they'll need. By not giving additional information, it implies that they will need more than just a few months to continue development. Though all in all, that's just speculation on our part.

This is another of many recent delay announcements. multiple other major titles, such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Avengers, and Cyberpunk 2077 have been pushed back from their Spring release dates and into a September window. It comes as no surprise at this point that there would be more that follow.

Stay tuned, folks. As soon as we know when the new release date is, we'll let you know.
