Dual Universe to be Next Big Space Sim?

Space sims have been a part of our libraries for many years now. Whether we stick with EVE or experiment with No Man's Sky, we strive to exist among the stars. The new upcoming contender for the space sim crown, Dual Universe, has shown off some of its amazing progress.


Wait, but where are the spreadsheets?

What supposedly sets this title apart from the others is in the total package. From the presentation during E3's PC conference, Dual Universe attempts to be the total package. Players exist together to cooperate (or not) within the world, creating all of the political, economical, and dramatic story themselves. In that way, the player driven world takes a few pages from EVE's book. However, with stunning visuals and an intricate building system, there seems to be a focus on exploration and aesthetics. Players will design and build everything in the game. It claims that there will even be opportunities for their designs to catch on and become famous within the game world.


PULL UP!! PULL UP!!

Dual Universe is still in a pre-alpha state, so there is no telling where it will end up. As of now, this concept is beyond ambitious. If the developer can pull it off, it could potentially change the entire scene of space sims. It will be a touchy road, though, with a mountain of testing and tweaking between now and launch. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
