Well, boo. The DSi's eShop legacy is coming to a close, but you'll have an entire year to wrap up your feelings with the Nintendo service. Beginning March 31, 2017, Nintendo will be shutting down DSi eShop for both the DSi and DSi XL handhelds. From now until then, you should spend all your eShop points before you lose them for good.
Is there any hope to transfer? Well, yes, if you own a 3DS. Nintendo urges people to perform system transfers between the DSi and the 3DS, considering the fact that the DSi will no longer be supported. Hopefully, more DSi titles will be added to the 3DS eShop. But for those worried about keeping their purchases forever, you can redownload the content if you transfer the data to the 3DS, but keep in mind that if you stick with your DSi or DSi XL, then you're completely boned when the eShop closes next year.
Times do change, unfortunately, and it's sad to see the DSi eShop go. There are many memories associated with it for lots of gamers everywhere, and just like the Wifi being shut down on the Wii and DS, the point system is going the way of the dodo.
But that's not for another year.
Bon voyage, DSi eShop.
