Splatoon 2 has a single-player mode: what Nintendo game doesn't? But no one's really buying the game for that: Nah, it's a competitive multiplayer game first and foremost, and it should come as little surprise that Nintendo would prefer it if people didn't do that thing they typically do where they ragequit in the middle of a heated match because they got killed too many times or because they think the rest of their team is trolling them.
In the absence of some form of squid-themed Mr. Resetti, however, Nintendo is doing the more standard practice of dropping the ol' banhammer on players who drop out of one too many games. The occasional disconnect won't be the end of the world, of course, and we don't know exactly how many DC's you can get away with before Nintendo loses patience, but if you play on an unstable connection or you're prone to quitting when things don't go your way, well... maybe ease up when it comes to Splatoon 2.
But if you can't help yourself, there's still some good news: it looks like the bans aren't permanent. Again, we don't know how long they last, but it'll end someday. That's assured.
Splatoon 2 comes out on July 21st, so that's just around the corner.
