Dragon Age: Inquisition PC Spec Requirements, Length revealed

But not in the sexy way.

As we discussed earlier this week, things are going full “Dragon Age” over at EA and Bioware, now that the hotly-anticipated third game of the critically acclaimed Dragon Age is on its way.  Thus, a whole slew of new Dragon Age information has spilled out onto the internet, and here’s some of the more important tidbits for you returning (or new) explorers into Ferelden.

Most essentially, if you’re not buying it for the Xbox One or Playstation 4, your options are limited to “PC” or “buy a different game”.  To make the most of the experience, Bioware suggests you have 4K monitor, as well as the following specs for your computer:

OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
CPU: AMD six core CPU @ 3.2 GHz, Intel quad core CPU @ 3.0 GHz
System RAM: 8 GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7870 or R9 270, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Graphics Memory: 3 GB
Hard Drive: 26 GB
DirectX 11

But that’s just recommended specs.  You’ll be able to run the game on at least the following:

OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
CPU: AMD quad core CPU @ 2.5 GHz, Intel quad core CPU @ 2.0 GHz
System RAM: 4 GB
Graphics CARD: AMD Radeon HD 4870, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
Graphics Memory: 512 MB
Hard Drive: 26 GB
DirectX 10

Of course, it defeats the purpose of having a real high-grade PC and paying 60 bucks for a new game if there’s nothing to do with it.  Fortunately, Bioware has you covered on that front as well, and recently in a discussion at Polygon, the studio revealed just how much content has been stuffed into their latest RPG.

If you run straight through the story, non-stop, it’ll take you about 40 to 50 hours.  Which, compared to a lot of other story modes in other games, is actually pretty good.  But once you take all the extra sidequests and bonus content into account the game, according to Bioware, is easily 200 hours long.  That’s 150 hours of side quests right there, most all of it 100% optional.  As Inquisition producer Cameron Lee puts it,

"We want to give our players a real world to explore - we want to give them a BioWare story.  A really vast, epic BioWare story. That's what we do, and it normally takes 20 to 40 hours anyway to tell the story we want to tell."

Pretty exciting stuff.  Dragon Age: Inquisition comes out this November 18th.
