Dr. Disrespect's Home was Shot in Mid-Stream

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who dislikes toxic streamers like Dr. Disrespect more than me, but the task is far from impossible. In fact, the other day, one such person decided to stop by the popular streamer’s home and actually shoot at the house with a gun. You could probably guess from my casual tone that nobody’s been hurt, but all the same, it’s a scary and unsettling reminder of the kind of risks you take by being an internet celebrity, where the mentally unhinged are empowered to act in violent, awful ways.

So here’s what happened: Dr. Disrespect was playing the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Open Beta, when suddenly a loud noise interrupted the stream. He left the game to investigate, and returned a few moments later with his iconic wig and glasses, which means it’s serious-time. Then, he said the following:

"I've got to end the broadcast right now, someone shot at our house. Broke the f@#king upstairs window. This is the second shot, someone shot yesterday, at our f@#king house and someone shot again right now, connected with the house, upstairs."

Polygon followed up with the local police, who could confirm that the story was true and that a deputy was sent on-site to investigate and keep their eyes peeled if someone should make another go at it. Dr. Disrespect, meanwhile, has assured his fans over Twitter that he appreciates their well wishes, that nobody’s been hurt and “the situation is being handled appropriately”, and he’ll return to his normally scheduled broadcast immediately.

So it worked out, more or less. Windows are expensive so that’ll be an expensive thing to replace, and of course there’s the mental exhaustion of knowing that someone is trying to kill you, but hopefully the cops will catch who’s responsible. Fingers crossed.
