Dota 2 Is the Next Game to get a Battle Royale Mode

God is dead, and he died in a Battle Royale.

It wasn’t too long ago that we were reporting that Battlerite, the teamfight-focused MOBA, was getting a battle royale mode of its own, because there’s not a good idea that exists that the games industry won’t try to milk to death. But if you thought Battlerite and Paladins were the only MOBAs who would try to make a battle royale mode, well, you clearly don’t have enough imagination. Because Valve just announced that 2018 International Battle Pass holders will have access to a temporary mode, called The Underhollow, that sounds suspiciously like a battle royale mode.

"Battle through a labyrinth filled with monsters, marvels, and many other three-player enemy squads as you search for Roshan's rarest cheese and work to be the last team standing. You'll need to navigate carefully to earn the XP and Gold needed to destroy your opponents," the Battle Pass site say. "But don't take too long—Roshan's cheese frenzy is causing cave-ins as he moves towards the center of the Underhollow. Soon enough there will be nowhere left to run."

Let’s see, a rapidly-closing map where you have to scavenge for resources to defeat other teams of players and be the last one standing? Yep, sounds like a Battle Royale to me, which is just… super. Fortunately, Battle Pass owners will get other goodies for their purchasfe: Cavern Crawl lets you advance through the floors of a cavern as you win matches, which will lead to prizes. Mutation Mode will also be available, where every day different “modifiers” will affect how matches play.

And this is on top of chat wheel sprays, custom lane creeps, Team Challenge matches, and the other benefits you typically receive when you pay up for the Battle Pass.

You can buy your battle pass now if you want. Remember that 25 percent of the money spent goes towards the prize pool for the International.
