Doom Beta coming to Next Gen Consoles and PC Soon!

Here is something interesting I recently came across... For those of you out there like me that had pretty much given up on the possibility of a new Doom title coming out, most notably Doom 4 which we had speculated on in the past quite immensely then you'll be happy to hear this news! Doom Beta is coming soon and you can get your Beta key whenever you pre order Wolfenstein The New Order for the PC, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 and the PS3. We neglected to report on it in the previous news piece but here is a glimpse of it in this nifty graphic;



And as for the story itself and where Doom is headed? Well, it has been reported that Doom might actually be rebooted. What does that mean exactly? We're not exactly sure as Doom 3 was sort of a reboot in itself as it was more of an origin story than a continuation from the original Doom. Reboots have been a trend for a decade or so and we're now 10 years departed from Doom 3 so one could argue that it is time? However on the flip side it would be nice to see a continuation of Doom 3 to Doom 4 which heavy speculation pointed to Doom Hell on Earth being the actual Doom 4. Maybe that is the intent this time around still?

There had been a lot of reports coming out that the development of Doom 4 (Doom Beta now) had stalled several times due to the game play being quite problematic in that it was going in the direction of being more team based and it began to feel like "Call of Doom" instead of a single solder fighting his way through the hordes of Hell! That is what made Doom a classic to begin with and that's what we hope we get with the next installment of the game. Either way, it will be nice to have a new Doom game and I can bet you that we'll probably have some kind of "hands on" Doom related content during this years Quakecon 2014.
