Virtual reality is still a large and mysterious world. So who better to experience it than the Doctor? The BBC has announced Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, a VR video game set to release this September.
Developed by Maze Theory and published by PlayStack, The Edge of Time places the player into the world of the hit television show. They''' experience urban British environments, alternate realities, Weeping Angels, and even the infamous Daleks.
There is little to be seen with the game at this time. the trailer only showcases the Daleks and Weeping Angels. The game's official webpage reveals more, however.
According to the site, a virus that is tearing apart reality itself has been unleashed. The player, equipped with their own Sonic Screwdriver, must pilot the TARDIS across time and space, collecting a series of special time crystals to fix the space-time. It also states that the game takes place during the current incarnation of Doctor, the one played by Jodie Whittaker. It's not clear if you play AS the Doctor, or if you're someone else that just happens to know how to pilot a TARDIS.
Doctor Who: The Edge Of Time will launch on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive and Vive Cosmos sometime this September. Price has not been announced.
