Dishonored 2 Announced on Accident, and then for Real

About eight hours early, to be exact!

I don’t anyone is terribly surprised that Bethesda’s smash hit Dishonored is getting a sequel: that game printed the money like the Department of the Treasury, and it was damn, damn fun. But how we first learned about it, a day before Bethesda’s big E3 reveal, was certainly a surprise.

While it was no doubt Bethesda’s plan to show off this game at their E3 event later today, the information was let slip by accident via an audio clip of two men, Harvey Smith, co-director of the first Dishonored, and Raph Colantonio. We can’t embed the clip here, sadly, as it was on Twitch and was done in a pre-announcement test of their audio system, but rest assured—they quite clearly say Dishonored 2 is coming.

And, lo and behold, far earlier than it was supposed to be revealed, Bethesda went ahead and just gave the people what they wanted, and pre-emtively revealed the new Dishonored 2 trailer. Check it out.

Awesome stuff, right? As should be obvious to returning fans of the first game, it seems Emily Kaldwin, the Princess orphaned in the intro of the original game, is now playable as well as Corvo, and has her own tricks and tools to get her through the gauntlets her enemies force her to endure. But, sadly, for the time being the trailer—and the release date, Spring 2016—is all we know. Fortunately, Bethesda’s E3 presentation is coming on later today, and I’d bet money we’ll learn more from that. In the meantime, just go ahead and watch the trailer a third time. Worth.
